The historic California Tower rises over the San Diego Museum of Man. Located in Balboa Park, the heart of San Diego, the tower is the architectural symbol of the city.

The building was designed by Bertram Goodhue for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition. When completed in 1914, it cost the State of California $250,000.

Movie fans might recognize the California Tower and Dome from one of the most famous movies of all time, Orson Wells' "Citizen Kane." The building served as an exterior shot of Charles Foster Kane's palatial home.
