This picture shows where the Twin Towers once stood in New York City. What was once a seven-level basement is in this photo a large open pit known as "The Bathtub". To the right (east) is the 1000 foot long slurry wall; this underground retaining wall helps hold back the Hudson River. The wall is 3 foot thick, 100 foot deep, and is socketed into bedrock with cables attached with tie-backs.
