This Jackknife Bridge, known as B&O Bascule Bridge No. 463, was built in 1956 to span the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland, Ohio. It has a main trunnion bascule span of 255 feet long and a clear channel distance of about 231 feet, and carries a single track on the 22-foot width of the trusses.

This photo is looking straight up from the base of the fixed end. The bridge (on the right) is in the open position; a weighted lever arm (on the left) balances the weight of the bridge. The bridge is located just north of the Detroit-Superior Viaduct, behind the Powerhouse and near the Nautica Stage. Here is another view of Bridge No. 463, and this is the famous Iron Curtain Railway Bridge (nearby, also in The Flats area of Cleveland).
