The Nix Professional Building, located on the banks on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas, was established as a hospital in 1931 during the Great Depression. At its completion, this 23-story building was the largest and tallest hospital in the United States. It was the only hospital in a skyscraper, and the only one with doctor's offices, hospital beds, and a parking garage in one building. It was the tallest hospital in Texas until the completion of the Memorial Hermann Medical Plaza in Houston.

The south side of the building is cut off diagonally by the Riverwalk, creating the optical illusion of a flat wall from the perspective of the river. The Nix Professional Building is built in the Art Deco architectural style.
